Stanley P. Butchar

Stanley P. Butchar, 87, Clarks Summit, died Wednesday, August 27 at the VNA Hospice Unit of Community Medical Hospital. His widow is the former Nettie Potts; the couple would have been married 66 years next December 18.

Born in Elmhurst, son of the late Stanley P. and Julie Gladys Butchar, he has been a resident of the Abington area for over 56 years. Prior to retirement, he was the caretaker of the Glenwood Mausoleum for 46 years and an auto body repairman for the Stauffer Coverlet for 26 years and Abington Body for 22 years. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a life member of the VFW Post 7069, Clarks Summit.

Also surviving are a daughter, Ann Butchar, Scranton; a sister, Helen Martell, Taylor; two grandsons, Stanley P. Butchar IV and Jon Potts. He was preceded in death by two brothers Albert and John Butchar and a sister, Blanche Holovinski.

A funeral was to be Saturday, Aug. 30 from the Glenwood Mausoleum on the Morgan Highway, with services by the Rev. John Whitmire, pastor of the Providence Baptist Church. VFW services were held at the Glenwood Masoleum. Arrangements by the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit.
