Walter Zezeski

Walter Zezeski, 84, Peaceful Valley Rd., Justus, died Friday, Sept. 19, in the Hospice community care in Dunmore. His wife is the former Elnora Cavanaugh, they couple were married for 60 years.

Born October 23, 1923 in Scranton, he was the son of the late Joseph and Rose Zezeski. Prior to retirement, he was a machinist and foreman for Chamberlin in Scranton as well as working for Maloney Vending. He was a veteran of World War II in the Army, serving as an artillery gunner in the European Theater. He was a member of the American Legion and the International Association of Machinist. He enjoyed cards with his family, fishing and golfing with his sons, and making pancakes with his wife for his children on Sundays. He loved the outdoors especially Lackawanna State Park. Exceptionally creative, he was a devoted family man.

Also surviving are four daughters, Donna Kaplan, and her husband, Barry, Tunkhannock, Sandra Materna, an her husband, Albert, Justus, Michele Cooper, and her husband, Paul, Clarks Summit, and Margaret (Molly) Shook, and her husband, Douglas, Glenburn; three sons, Michael and his wife, Deborah, Reisterstown, MD; Joseph, and his wife, Jennifer and Patrick, and his wife, Maria all of Scranton; a brother, Victor, Long Island; 13 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Chester and a sister, Rose Lapper. A blessing service was to be held on Monday at the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit with services. Interment will be in Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst. Memorials may be made to the Countryside Conservatory, P.O. Box 55 College Ave., LaPlume, PA 18440.
