William F. Lindsley, of Clarks Summit, died Thursday, May 22, in Moses Taylor Hospital. He is survived by his wife, the former Doris Arcangelo. The couple would have celebrated their 44th wedding anniversary in July.

Born in Binghamton, NY, he was the son of the late Law Lindsley and Helen Doyle Lindsley Ryan. Before retirement, he was employed as a time study methods analyst for General Analine and Film Co., Vestal, NY, for 14 years. He was later employed by NEIU as a special education teacher for 25 years. He was a Navy veteran and a member of the Church of St. Gregory. He was a graduate of Binghamton City High School and Broome Community College. He earned a degree in business education from Central Connecticut University and received master’s degrees in special education and educational administration from Lehigh University. He was a member of UNICO and the Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees and was a former member and past treasurer of the Board of Cerebral Palsy. He was also a former member of the Scranton Canoe Club and Sports Car Club of America.

William had a special fondness and love of Florence, Italy, where he had resided for nine months. He also wintered in Hilton Head, SC. He was an avid sports fan, especially the New York Giants, New York Yankees and Penn State. He also enjoyed golf, coin and stamp collecting.

Also surviving are a brother, David E. Lindsley, Raleigh, NC; 20 nieces and nephews and 22 grandnieces and grandnephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, James and Richard. A Mass of Christian Burial was to be held in the Church of St. Gregory, 330 N. Abington Road, Clarks Green, to be celebrated by Monsignor James McGarry, pastor of Our Lady of the Snows Church. Interment, Cathedral Cemetery. Arrangements from the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the United Cerebral Palsy Foundation, 425 Wyoming Ave., 18503; or the Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees Scholarship Fund, 1643 Falls Road, Clarks Summit, 18411
