William Joseph Carey

William Joseph Carey, 54, of Scranton, died Saturday, July 11, at home after a lengthy illness.

Born Jan. 19, 1955, in Scranton, son of the late Edward Paul and Margaret O’Malley Carey, he formerly lived in Clarks Summit, was a 1973 graduate of Abington Heights High School and attended Penn State University, Worthington Scranton Campus, Dunmore. He was a member of Our Lady of the Snows Parish, Clarks Summit.

Surviving are two sisters, Marilyn Carey, Clarks Summit; and Dr. Patricia Carey, New York City; an aunt, Sister Teresa M. O’Malley, I.H.M., Our Lady of Peace Residence, Scranton; and a nephew, Aidan Demkowich, Clarks Summit.

The funeral was held Tuesday with a memorial Mass at 10:30 a.m. in Our Lady of the Snows Church, 301 S. State St., Clarks Summit. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family in St. Catherine’s Cemetery, Moscow. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Francis of Assisi Kitchen, 500 Penn Ave., Scranton, PA 18503.
