BIDDING - Lorraine E., Vine Street, Plymouth, died Wednesday, June 18, 2008 in Riverstreet Manor, Wilkes-Barre.

Born in Kingston, she was a graduate of Harveys Lake High School. She was employed at RCA, Mountain Top, and Leslie Fay until her retirement. She was a member of Elm Hill Hose Co. 3 Women’s Auxiliary and the First Christian Church, Plymouth.

Surviving are her husband, Samuel; sons, Nicholas Bidding, Kingston; Michael and Patrick Bidding, Plymouth; daughters, Randee Reisser, Wilkes-Barre; and Christine Roan, Larksville; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.

HILDEBRAND – Elizabeth Anne, 19, of Golf Course Road, Hunlock Creek, died Wednesday, June 18, 2008 in Stillwater, Pa.

Born October 22, 1988 in Wilkes-Barre, she was a graduate of Northwest Area High School and completed two years at Bloomsburg University. She was a member of the Oakdale United Methodist Church, Hunlock Creek.

Surviving are her parents, Harold and Janice (Barchik) Hildebrand; brothers, Zackery, Sunbury; Christopher, Cincinnati, Ohio; maternal grandparents, Frank and Lois Barchik, Cambra; paternal grandmother, Nancy True, Texas; a niece and a nephew; aunts, uncles and cousins.

KING – Verna S., formerly of Louisville, Ky., died Friday, June 20, 2008 at her home in Shavertown.

Born March 12, 1925 in Louisville, she graduated from the Louisville Girls High School and attended college. During the 1940s, she worked at Reynolds Metals. After raising her family, she worked as a bookkeeper at Belknap Elementary and Atherton High Schools.

Surviving are her daughters, Deborah Jo Stern and Linda Tirpak, both of Shavertown; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sisters, Ella Mae Wildt, Virginia Hurst and Juanita Silliman, all of Louisville; several nieces and nephews.

PLACE – Wilson, 95, of Place Road, Tunkhannock Township, died Wednesday, June 18, 2008 at home.

Born December 4, 1912 in East Lemon, he joined the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II and served as a gunnery sergeant. After his stint in the service, he did construction work and had a hand in helping to build the Charmin Paper Products plant now known as Procter & Gamble-Mehoopany. He also served as a rural mail carrier on the old RD 4 Tunkhannock route.

Surviving are a step-daughter, Margaret Curtis; two step-grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren.

SWIRE - Ronald L., 44, of Dorothy, N.J., formerly of Loyalville, died Sunday, June 15, 2008, in Laurel Springs, N.C.

Born in Wilkes-Barre on March 21, 1964, he graduated from Lake-Lehman High School in 1982 where he wrestled, lettered in track and field and served as drum major for the high school band for four years. He attended Bloomsburg University, Luzerne County Community College and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in criminal justice from King’s College in 1987.

He was employed as a senior security investigator for the Trump Taj Mahal in Atlantic City, N.J., for the last 21 years.

Surviving are his mother, Marilyn Traver Neifert, of Loyalville; sons, Ian Robert and Cody Lee, at home, and their mother, Melissa; brother, Jack I. Swire, of Mt. Laurel, N.J., a niece, a nephew and aunts.

TRUMBOWER – James D., 78, of Bonham Road, Hunlock Creek, died Saturday, June 21, 2008 at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.

Born in Easton on August 7, 1929, he graduated from Plymouth High School and served in the Army during the Korean War. He graduated from Wesleyan University. Prior to retiring, he was a teacher and administrator for the Springfield Delco School District in Delaware County.

Surviving are his wife, Dorothy, with whom he celebrated 50 years of marriage; son, Britt, Bear Creek; daughters, Julie Casey, Towanda; Jennette Driscoll, Newark, Del.; sister, Diane Mankin, Broomall; six grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; nieces and nephews.
