On Wednesday, Feb. 3, the students of Abington Christian Academy in
Clarks Green celebrated the 100th day of school with a “Pajama Party.”
Students got to venture to classes in their pajamas and listen to bedtime
stories for this very special day.

Administrator Jan Wells said volunteers were invited from the community
to read aloud to classes throughout the day with the intent of promoting
literacy and modeling a love of reading and learning.
The children were divided into four groups. Volunteers rotated to each
group to read children's literature and follow up with a few discussion
questions. The readings concluded with “Breakfast for Lunch”
prepared by Clarks Green Assembly of God.
The Pajama Party allows the children to celebrate their academic
accomplishments with a day of fun and learning, gives them time to
reflect on their achievements, and promotes thankfulness for the
friendships with their schoolmates.
Community readers included Clarks Summit Mayor Harry P. Kelly, Pastor
Laurie Jayne of Clarks Green Assembly of God, Abington Community Library
Director Leah Rudolph, Abington Journal Editor Kristie Grier Ceruti and
school and parent volunteers, including Louise Cator, Bruce Leach and
Tim Arendt.
