To better serve the needs of the children in the community, they have defined coverage areas and listed the night Santa will visit homes on the sheet below. If you do not find a location that covers your neighborhood, send a response and the Lions will determine if you live within their service area. Some schools have students who reside outside the coverage area. In most situations, other service organizations may have a similar holiday program.
The Lions Club is a service organization of community-minded men and women. In addition to the Annual Santa Claus visit, Lions Clubs provide support for people with vision and hearing difficulties and sponsor other community service projects. For more information, visit the Abington Lions Club website at http://www.abingtonlions.org.
“There is no cost to families for this visit, however, donations are always welcome to offset the costs,” said coordinator Mark Kusma.
The Abington Lions will celebrate 60 years of service next month. Locally, they support the Abington Little League and provide scholarships to graduating seniors that meet certain criteria. They also provide eyeglasses and/or hearing aids if a family cannot afford them.
To prepare for Santa’s visit, parents are asked to be home on their scheduled night, have an outside light on, make sure their address is visible, and have their camera ready. “We don’t really have any rules and will visit children through the 2nd grade,” he noted.
Use the response form below and mail to: Abington Lions Club,
Due to scheduling, no forms will be accepted after December 3. If you are interested in joining the Lions Club and helping with community projects, or to learn more, call Mark or Heather Kusma at 570.587.5062 or visit www.abingtonlions.org.
