In June, Lakeland High School Senior Caitlyn Floyd was awarded the Pennsylvania Association of School Retiree’s Lackawanna Chapter Future Teacher Scholarship Award. Floyd has been selected based on her academic achievement and future education endeavors.
Floyd is the Valedictorian of the Lakeland High School Class of 2009. Floyd has chosen Pennsylvania State University to further her education. While at the school, her activities included: National Honor Society, three year member, member of Scholastic Bowl Team, three year member, International Thespian Society member, Campus Life, Mu Alpha Theta, and two year member of Accreditation for Growth Student Committee.
Floyd has volunteered as an AP Chemistry tutor, library volunteer and participated in the Breath of Life Walk and Youth Day of Caring for two years.
The award is given to an outstanding senior student who is attending one of Lackawanna County’s high schools and planning to attend college to pursue a teaching career. This year’s Scholarship Award is in memory of William F. Lindsley who for 25 years was a dedicated Special Education instructor for the Northeast Educational Intermediate Unit #19.
Lindsley was a member of the Lackawanna county Chapter of PASR, as well as his wife, Doris Arcangelo of Clarks Summit.
