The South Abington Township Police and Maintenance Department held its 13th annual Children’s Fishing Derby on Saturday, July 12 at the Lackawanna State Park in Dalton. Two hundred children attended, 800 hot dogs were cooked, 35 cases of soda were consumed. T-shirt sales resulted in $500 in proceeds which were donated to six-year-old leukemia patient Matthew Siegler. Winners of the “Big Fish” of the day prizes included Shannon Harding, 11, Glenburn; Kyla Lockez, 4, South Abington Twp.; George Schwartz, 12, Nicholson; Leona Peters, 9, Clarks Summit and Ryan Flynn, 7, South Abington Township.
