By Tom Robinson
Scranton Edition sports correspondent

Lackawanna Trail and Coughlin could not score for 60 minutes of regulation play.

Coughlin needed just 19 seconds of the 7-on-7 overtime period to end Lackawanna Trail's reign as defending District 2 Class AAA field hockey champion with a 1-0 semifinal victory.

Coughlin will play Wyoming Valley West, which beat Honesdale, 2-1, on penalty strokes, in the district final Wednesday at 6:30 at Crestwood.

Molly Van Duzer made 10 saves for Lackawanna Trail in regulation before Alyssa Monaghan stole the ball to start overtime and set up Katie Gabriele's game-winning goal.

Stephanie Engle made eight saves for Coughlin.
