District 2 volleyball tournament set

The District 2 girls' volleyball tournament will open today when Dallas plays Hanover Area at Nanticoke in a play-in game to reach the Class AA quarterfinals.

The quarterfinals will then be played in a pair of doubleheaders Monday at the sites of the top two seeds.

Lake-Lehman will meet Tunkhannock at 5 and the Dallas-Hanover Area winner will play host Holy Redeemer after that match is completed. Holy Redeemer went 18-0 to win the Wyoming Valley Conference.

Crestwood will face Western Wayne at 5 and Berwick will play unbeaten Lackawanna League champion Dunmore, the host team, after.

The Class AA semifinals are Tuesday and the final is set for Thursday at Nanticoke at 6.

The Class AAA championship game is already set. Delaware Valley and Abington Heights will play at North Pocono Wednesday at 5. Delaware Valley (17-1) and Abington Heights (14-4) were two of the top four teams in the 19-team WVC.

Class A has a four-team tournament with semifinals set for Monday at Mountain View.

Lackawanna Trail will play Forest City at 5 then MMI will meet Mountain View. The winners play Wednesday at Tunkhannock at 7.

Mountain View (12-4) and Lackawanna Trail (11-5) were the second- and third-place teams in the Lackawanna League.
