SCRANTON - Wednesday, July 30, was a dream for the City team. After losing the Lions Club annual Dream Game last year, the team fought back for a victory last night.

The City team, comprised of players from Delaware Valley, Dunmore, West Scranton, Wallenpaupack, Scranton, Scranton Prep, North Pocono, Montrose, Holy Cross and Susquehanna, fought against the County team of Abington Heights, Valley View, Old Forge Lackawanna Trail, Riverside, Lakeland, Mid Valley, Carbondale, Western Wayne and Honesdale.

Both teams defense made it almost impossible for anyone to get by, leaving both teams scoreless until the final minutes of the first half. It was then that Scranton’s Jason Domincik made a 34- yard touchdown.

Neither team would make it to the end zone in third quarter, but it would be another Scranton Knight, Tar Barrett, who would extend the City’s lead in the opening of the fourth quarter to 14-0, catching a 35- yard pass from Delaware Valley quarterback Billy Poore.

County was down, but not out. They answered back when Old Forge’s Mark Alexander made a 21- yard pass to Carbondale’s Lance Gabriel, putting County on the board for the first time of the evening. Mid Valley’s Kyle Shevchick made the two-point conversion, bringing County within six with 7:31 left in the game, making a comeback seem possible.

But a Brian Courtright interception on County’s last possession thwarted those hopes, and City left with a 14-8 victory.
