Dunmore advances to volleyball final

Dunmore and Holy Redeemer posted victories Tuesday night to set up a meeting of unbeaten league champions in the District 2 Class AA girls' volleyball championship match.

The teams will play for the title Thursday at Nanticoke at 6 p.m.

Nicole Korgeski led the way as Lackawanna League champion Dunmore defeated Crestwood, 25-13, 20-25, 25-19, 25-20.

Korgeski had 16 kills, two blocks and 14 service points. Kimberly Dempsey added 20 assists and three aces while Colleen Carr had four kills, 16 service points and six aces.

Holy Redeemer, the Wyoming Valley Conference champion, rolled over Tunkhannock, 25-9, 25-7, 25-7, in the other semifinal.
