BOYS BASKETBALL
Abington Heights
The Comets defeated Delaware Valley at home 72-45 on Saturday, Jan. 3. Ross Danzig had 16 points, Dan Smith had 15 points, Eric Hardaway had 14 points and Luke Peterson had 10 in this well-balanced effort by Abington.
Lackawanna Trail
Trail fell short in their 42-39 loss to North Pocono on Tuesday, Dec. 30. Chris Loman led the Lions with 15 points.
Lakeland
Brandon Shimo led the Chiefs in scoring with 11 points and Tony Peregrin added 10 in the Lions 49-37 loss at home to Riverside on Saturday, Jan.3.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Abington Heights
Abington came up with a big 56-23 win over Delaware Valley at home on Friday, Jan. 2. Dakin Hewlett led the team with 10 points.
The Lady Comets kept that streak alive on Monday night, Jan. 5, winning 62-43 at Honesdale. Hewlett led the team in scoring again with 16 points. Liz Kizi and Mariah Diebert each had 11 points.
Lackawanna Trail
The Lady Lions lost 62-49 at home to Montrose High School, on Friday, Jan. 2. Kelsey Deveny led the Lady Lions with 18 points.
Lakeland
Ruth Butts scored 15 of the Lady Chiefs 35 points in Lakeland’s 43-35 loss to Carbondale.
Butts led her team again with 12 points on Friday, Jan. 2 in their 70-45 loss at Riverside.
SWIMMING
At Delaware Valley, Gabe Thran won the 200 and 500 freestyle, Steve Nicolosi won the 200 individual medley and 100 butterfly for the Comets 108-78 loss, on Monday, Jan. 5.
Maggie Scanlon (200 IM), Kim Barren (100 fly), Barb Mitchell (100 back) and Vanessa Lempicky (100 breast) all earned victories to help the Lady Comets secure a 98-88 win over Delaware Valley.
WRESTLING
Lackawanna Trail
Marvess Rosiak, Eric Laytos and Lance Moore all went 5-0 in the Zurn Bush Memorial Tournament on Saturday, Jan. 3.
