Hubbard, Deibert lead coaches’ All-Star selections

The Abington Heights High School senior midfielder was joined by junior goalie Mariah Deibert on the first-team division all-stars.

Coach Chris Davis revealed the Lady Comets on the all-star team during their annual banquet Wednesday, June 3 at Amici.

Senior midfielder Meghan Lenahan, junior midfielder Justine Leininger and freshman forward Emma Black were each selected to the second team.

Junior defender Sarah Holmes, sophomore defender Christine Colman and junior midfielder Katie Hock each received honorable mention.

Individual Awards Presented at Banquet

Seven players received individual awards Wednesday night at the Abington Heights girls’ soccer banquet.

Senior captains Lenahan and Hubbard were among those honored. Lenahan was named Most Valuable Player while Hubbard received the School Board Team Player Award, which is voted on by teammates.

Leininger received the Coaches’ Award, Holmes the “Big D” Award, Colman the Best Hustle/Work Habits, Meredith Salmon the Most Improved and Emily Sullivan the Rookie of the Year.

A total of 24 Abington Heights girls’ soccer players received varsity letters during Wednesday night’s banquet at Amici.

Seniors Lenahan and Hubbard each received special awards for receiving their fourth varsity letters.

Bridgette Robinson, a senior, and juniors Deibert, Katie Hock, Holmes and Leininger each earned letters for the third time.

Senior Maria Elwell, junior Kat Fox and sophomore Colman received their second letter.

A group of 14 players earned their first varsity letters. They are: seniors Alicia Basalyga, Dakin Hewlett, Katie Montella and Kim Pappas; juniors Samantha Paolucci and Meredith Salmon; sophomores Abbey Cadden, Arielle Green, Alex Pipcho and Becca Schoenberg; and freshmen Emma Black, Emily Sullivan, Lexi Thiel and Jessica Mahler.
