Megan Kopecki scored 22 points, Courtney Roselle had her first career double-double and Tayler Pallotta made a successful collegiate debut Sunday afternoon as the University of Scranton held off host Monclair State, 71-65, in a women's basketball opener.
Pallotta, a freshman from Dunmore, needed just 14 minutes to score 10 points. She was 5-for-7 from the floor, and added three rebounds and an assist.
Kopecki hit nine of 14 shots and had five assists and four rebounds.
Roselle scored 11 points and grabbed a career-high 11 rebounds.
Scranton, ranked fifth in the country to open the season, led by as many as 21 points in the second half before Montclair State started its rally.
