Sharkey leads Princeton to Final Four

Kat Sharkey scored four goals Sunday afternoon to lead the Princeton field hockey team to the NCAA Division I Final Four with a 7-3 victory over Syracuse.

Syracuse led, 3-2, before Sharkey tied the game 4:36 into the second half. It was the first of three straight goals, in a span of less than 10 minutes, for the sophomore from Moosic and Wyoming Seminary.

Princeton joins North Carolina, Virginia and Maryland for the Final Four, which begins Friday, in Winston-Salem, N.C.

Sharkey, the 10th-leading scorer in the nation going into the weekend, was a unanimous first-team all-Ivy League pick for the second straight year.

3 of the 4 Final Four teams have WVC players. Princeton in addition to Sharkey has Alyssa Pyros of Dallas. UNC has Kolojechick of Sem and Crestwood and Drazdowski and UVA has Dallas' Selenski and Puffenberger and Lehman's Ragukas. Selenski is 7th or 8th in the nation in scoring and scored 2 goals in UVA's defeat over BigTen champ Mich St.
