COVINGTON TWP. - For the past three years Abington Heights High School has squared off with Delaware Valley for the District II Class AAA volleyball title. After repeatedly falling short against the Warriors, the Lady Comets rallied to win the championship 3-1 at North Pocono High School on Wednesday, Nov. 4.
The strong youth soccer programs in the Abingtons are generally recognized as the spark to high school soccer success at Abington Heights High School. One player has bypassed the feeder leagues and jumped into one of the most pivotal positions on the roster.
After winning the District II Class AA Championship 5-1 on Thursday, Nov. 5, over Coughlin High School, the Abington Heights boys soccer team took a page from NHL lore.
While the Abington Heights High School golf team has been silent since the District 2 Championships two weeks ago, one golfer continues to find success.
On Oct. 9, the Abington Heights varsity and junior varsity field hockey teams played for pink, collecting donations in honor of breast cancer awareness month. For the second straight year, the Lady Comets suited up in pink and held a scrimmage in place of practice. The players donated about $190, according to assistant coach Cheryl Burger. The money will be donated to a district employee who was diagnosed with breast cancer.
