Payton is a granddaughter of Rose Ann Caffrey and Dorothy Ashton, Wilkes-Barre; Robert and Betty Ashton, Exeter; and Thomas and Carol Caffrey, Plains Township. She is a great-granddaughter of Anthony and Charlie Jean Zlobik, Florida. Payton has three brothers and four sisters.
