Parishioners gather to say goodbye to Blessed Sacrament

Members of the parish community of Blessed Sacrament Church in Center Moreland gathered on July 26 for the final mass at the church. The church is being closed by the Diocese of Scranton and parishioners will now worship at other Back Mountain churches.

Participating in the final mass were Andrew Latosek, procession cross; Florence Mociun, book of baptism, death, parish; Doris Montross, holy oils; Charles Dulsky, baptismal bowl; Maggie Hughes, Sunday lectionary; Nadine Howe, weekday lectionary; Genevieve Kintner and Stan Dorrance, music ministry; B.J. Coolbaugh, ministry to the sick; Don Watchulonis, Easter candle; Florence Stelma, oldest member.

Also, Father Vincent Dang, Father James Shimsky, Father Joseph Weber and Father James Paisley, celebrants; Florence Mickley and Eleanor Witners, extraordinary ministers; Don Watchulonis, Charlotte Watchulonis, Thomas Bedford, Matthew Faux and Ryan Faux, alter servers; Rachel Murawski, cantor; Nadine Howe and Florence Mociun, readers; Louise Bachman, Mary Ann Dymond, Magaret Cook and Carol Williams, gift bearers; Celeste Geskey, prayer of the faithful; Ray Mocium, Diane Kuzma and Dennis Perugino, ushers.

Sister Jan Marie Kalyan, IHM, was the director/organist and members of the choir included Cherl Clerico, B.J. Coolbaugh, Stanley Dorrance, Genevieve Kintner, Rachel Murawski, Joseph Supulski and Gail Wishneski.

Members of the Blessed Sacrament committee included Florence Mociun, chairperson; Marianne Baseski, Louise Bachman, B.J. Coolbaugh, Chris Faux, Roseanne Gates, Maggie Hughes, Sister Jan Marie Kalyan IHM, Diane Kuzma, Florence and William Mickley, Trish Macho, Michele Nice, Father James Shimsky, Charlotte Watchulonis and Carol Williams.
