4-H members take part in horse show

Seventeen Luzerne County 4-H Horse members participated in the 50th annual Pennsylvania State 4-H Horse Show at the State Farm Show Complex in Harrisburg. These members not only represented Luzerne County but the seven counties that comprise the 4-H Horse District.

State 4-H Horse Show participants are, from left, first row, Carey-Ann Keiper, Jodie Salansky. Second row, Sela Fine, Kayla Fine, Samantha Zimmerman, Lindsay Jayne, Devin Fine, Kyle Keiper, Thomas Boyle, Kristin Boyle, Kaitlin Ingram, Kianna Spencer. Absent at the time of the photo were Mallory Lefkowitz, Margaret Rupp, Tyler Linde, Amy Polachek and Hannah Corcoran.

County winners in 4-H performance classes were:

Lindsay Jayne, Dallas, first place, Hunter Seat Equitation, Senior, and third place in Working Hunter Horses; Kristen Boyle, Shavertown, second in Western Pleasure Pairs; Thomas Boyle, Shavertown, second in Western Pleasure Pairs, eighth in Open Trail Horses, Senior Rider, and 10th in Pleasure Horse Driving; Kyle Keiper, Dallas, fifth in Clover Leaf Barrel Race Ponies; Mallory Lefkowitz, Kingston, fourth in Hunter Under Saddle Horses, Junior Rider; Margaret Rupp, Dallas, fourth in Stock Seat Equitation, Senior; Tyler Linde, Kingston, fifth in Hunter Seat Equitation on the flat, Senior; Kayla Fine, Sweet Valley, seventh in English Pleasure Pairs; Samantha Zimmerman, Dallas, seventh in English Pleasure Pairs; Amy Polachek, Dallas, seventh in English Grooming and showmanship, Senior, and ninth in Open Trail Horses, Senior Rider; Devin Fine, Sweet Valley, eighth in Pleasure Horse Driving; and Hannah Corcoran, Dallas, 10th in Hunter Hack Horses.

In 4-H horse production classes, winners were:

Kianna Spencer, Dallas, first in Quarter Horse Yearling Fillies and third in Quarter Horse Yearling Geldings; Kyle Keiper, first in Stock Type Pony Three-Year-Old Fillies; Lindsay Jayne, Dallas, fifth in Western Pleasure Four Year Old Pleasure Futurity.

Also receiving recognition in the state contest were Kaitlin Ingram, Dallas; Sela Fine, Sweet Valley; and Carey-Ann Keiper, Dallas.
