Winning gold at 4-H Horse Show

Eighteen Luzerne County 4-H horse members participated in the annual State 4-H Horse Show held at the State Farm Show Complex in Harrisburg. These members not only represented Luzerne County, but the seven counties that comprise the 4-H Horse District.

County winners in 4-H performance classes were:

Matthew Boyle, Shavertown, fifth in Pleasure Horse Driving

Thomas Boyle, Shavertown, fourth in Open Trail Horses, Jr. Rider

Helen Bunnell, Millville, first in Western Pleasure Ponies, sixth in Open Trail Ponies

Katie Hoffman, Lake Ariel, first in Western Pleasure Pairs, first in County Team

Lindsay Jayne, Dallas, third in Hunter Seat Equitation (over fences) Junior, ninth in Working Hunter Ponies, 10th in Hunter Under Saddle Ponies

Mallory Lefkowitz, Kingston, fourth in Hunter Under Saddle Ponies, ninth in Hunter Seat Equitation (over fences), Junior

Elizabeth Lewis, Falls, first in Western Riding, first In Western Pleasure Pairs, first in County Team, third in Novice Reining

Margaret Rupp, Dallas, first in County Team, second in Stock Seat Equitation Junior, third in Western Riding, fifth in Western Grooming & Showmanship Junior, 10th in Open Trail Horses, Junior Rider

Kayla Fine, Sweet Valley, sixth in English Pleasure Pairs

Samantha Zimmerman, Shavertown, sixth in English Pleasure Pairs

Megan Lee, Noxen, eighth in Western Pleasure Ponies;

In 4-H horse production classes, winners were:

Helen Bunnell, fourth in Western Pleasure-Four Year Old Pleasure Futurity

Brittany Galli, Laflin, second in Quarter Horse-Three Year Old Filly; Lindsay Jayne, fourth in Hunter Type Pony- Two-Year Old Gelding

Kyle Keiper, Dallas, third in Stock Type Pony-Two Year Old/Three Year Old Filly

Janice Richardson, Shickshinny, sixth in Paint - Two-Year Old Gelding

Kaitlin Ingram, Dallas, fifth in Hunter Type Horse - Three-Year Old Filly.

Also receiving recognition in the state contest were Tyler Linde, Kingston; and Amy Polachek, Dallas.
