County fair a success despite Tropical Storm Hanna

On behalf of the Luzerne County Fair and its volunteers, I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who attended the 46th Annual Luzerne County Fair.

Even though Tropical Storm Hanna decided to visit us at the fair this year and forced us to close our gates early on Saturday, the safety and well-being of our fair-goers was more important. The 46th Annual Luzerne County Fair was a huge success!!!

The Luzerne County Fair is a viable source of income for all of our service clubs who provide continuous community services throughout the year. It has been our goal to provide an affordable, yet memorable, event right here in Luzerne County.

Our amphitheatre was full and so many of our kind fair-goers approached us just to say “thank you” and tell us how much they enjoyed sitting and watching the entertainment. Our new Ag for Kids Tent was a huge success and so many children have a new flower to care for that they planted all by themselves.

Everywhere you looked there was a smiling face - whether it was down on the rides, watching the families sitting in the grass, at the amphitheatre or seeing the little ones eating that ear of corn. It is memories like these that remind us why we will start all over again today for next year.

Thank you to everyone who had a part in helping to create so many fond memories for so many people.
