Dallas man dies in one-car accident at Harveys Lake

A Dallas man died as a result of injuries from a motor vehicle accident on Monday, Nov. 9 in Harveys Lake.

According to a report from the Harveys Lake Police, Department the department was called to the area of Lakeside Drive and State Route 29 at about 1:20 a.m. for a report of a one-car motor vehicle accident. Police say they located the vehicle of 23-year-old Cory Shultz in a pole. Shultz was ejected from the vehicle.

Shultz was transported by helicopter to Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center’s trauma unit in Plains Township where he died.

Police say speed may have played a role in the accident.

According to Shultz’s obituary, he was the son of Stanley and Debbie Shultz of Dallas. He was a graduate of Dallas High School, Class of 2004, and Wilkes University with a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing in 2008. He was employed as a clerk by Lakeside Bistro, Harveys Lake, and worked with his father at Shultz Masonry.
