Sullivan County teen survives ‘Idol’ cut

The hopes of area “American Idol” contestant Aaron Kelly remained alive Wednesday night as he was tapped to remain in the competition.

Kelly, 16, from Sonestown, Sullivan County, near Ricketts Glen State Park, advanced to the next round on the widely popular FOX TV talent show.

Kelly was among the singers who seemingly surprised the panel with their respectable renditions of Rolling Stones classics. Kelly’s tune was the plaintive ballad “Angie.”

“I beat you up good last week, but you showed me tonight,” judge Kara DioGuardi told Kelly.

Judge Randy Jackson on Wednesday night termed Kelly’s crooning style “very nice.”
