Ryan Frania of Shavertown is a recipient of a Lower School Merit Scholarship at Wyoming Seminary for the 2008-09 school year. Frania, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Frania, is a student in the seventh grade. The award was established to encourage promising fifth through eighth-grade students to attend the Lower School. Recipients were chosen on the basis of a competitive exam administered on February 2. Each award recipient receives half-tuition merit-based scholarships.
A Sports Card and Silent Auction will be held at 3 p.m. today, Nov. 30, at the Holiday Inn, Kidder Street, Wilkes-Barre. Walt and Lou Michaels will sign autographs and Schiel’s Markets will award a bicycle to the winner of a card-flipping contest. The contest is open to children ages 6 and up.
The Rock Recreation Center, 340 Carverton Rd., is accepting applications for its Upward Basketball Program which runs January 1 through March 28. The program is open to boys and girls in Pre-K through ninth grade.
The River of Life Fellowship Ministries Church has its hardcover church cookbook available for purchase for $15. The book contains approximately 190 recipes and makes a great Christmas gift. For more information or to purchase a book, call Sue at 256-3382.
The Annual Dallas High School Alumni vs. Student Soccer Game will be played at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 29, at Cleary Field in Dallas.
