A Fall Festival will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. today, Oct. 18, at the Serhan resident near the former Hanson’s Amusement Park at Harveys Lake.
There will be a co-op buffet, co-op non alcoholic beverages or BYOB carriage rides, apple bobbing and desserts in the haunted house with actors. Costumes are encouraged.
Musical entertainment will be provided by George Wesley, Goldenfire Band, Ron Saba and karaoke. There will be fireworks at dusk.

The “Party of the Month” social club is now open for new members. There are five great parties for the upcoming year with dinner and dancing at Newberry Estates featuring music by “The Statesmen.”

“The Rocky Horror Show” musical by Richard O’Brien will be presented by the Music Box Repertory Company at 7:30 p.m. on October 23, 24, 30 and 31 at the Music Box Dinner Playhouse, 196 Hughes St., Swoyersville. Midnight shows will be held on October 23, 24, 30 and 31.

A square dance featuring the Roger Furman Band will be held from 7 to 10 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 24, at the Franklin Township Fire Hall, 329 Orange Rd., Orange. The doors and kitchen will open at 6 p.m. Admission is $6 for adults.

The Back Mountain Wine Festival 2009 will be held from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 24, at Pikes Creek Raceway, Route 118 in Hunlock Creek.
Wine tasting as well as a charity miniature golf tournament, entertainment and food vendors will all be on hand. Proceeds will benefit the Lake Silkworth Fire Department.
General admission tickets are $10 per person in advance and $15 per person the day of the event. Tickets for designated drivers and people under age 21 are $5 per person both in advance and at the door.

The Sweet Valley Volunteer Fire Company will hold a family-style beef dinner from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 24, with takeouts beginning at 4 p.m.
Cost is $8 for adults, $4 for children between the ages of 6 and 11 and free for children under the age of 6.
The Jackson Township Police Department and the Jackson Township Board of Supervisors will sponsor their Fifth Annual Pumpkin Carving and Coloring Contest and Emergency Services Day from 1 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 25, at the Jackson Township Recreation Park and Pavilion at the Jackson Township Municipal Building at 2211 Huntsville Rd.
There will be food, games and emergency services equipment on display. There will also be a hayride in the park and General Jackson’s World Famous Chili.
Pumpkin carving and coloring awards will be held at 3:30 p.m.
Monday Night Bingo will be held on October 26 at the Northmoreland Twp. Vol. Fire Co., Demunds Road, Centermoreland.
Doors open at 5 p.m. Refreshments will be available.
“Brokenharts Asylum,” a high-tech, high-scare haunted house, will be open every Friday, Saturday and Sunday through October, as well as Thursday, Oct. 29, and Sunday, Nov. 1, at the Luzerne County Fairgrounds, Route 118, Dallas.
This is a self-guided walk-through haunted house featuring animatronics, specially-trained scare actors and brand new scenes.
