A public screening of a documentary movie called “Shanksville PA: A Place of Inspiration” in which five students from Tunkhannock Area High School are featured will be shown at 3 p.m. today, Oct. 11, at the Dietrich Theater.
The students, Kelsey Lee, Ciera Rosario, Eric Phillips, Laura Lomascolo and Maria Romero, toured the site where Flight 93 crashed, visited with the woman who took the famous picture, “The End of Serenity” and met the creator of the 9/11 National Remembrance Flag.

Students in pre-kindergarten through grade 11 and their families interested in learning more about Wyoming Seminary College Preparatory School are invited to attend the fall Visitation Day to be held on Columbus Day, Monday, Oct. 12 at both the Lower School campus in Forty Fort and the Upper School campus in Kingston.
At the Lower School, 1560 Wyoming Ave., Forty Fort, Visitation Day will begin at 8:30 a.m. The Upper School Visitation Day program will begin at 8:30 a.m. in the Stettler Learning Resources Center, North Sprague Ave., Kingston.
The Misericordia University Diversity Institute is sponsoring the special display of artist Marela Zacarias’s 8’ X 20’ mural that depicts the Latino immigration experience in the United States.
The mural will be on display in the Mary Kintz Bevevino Library through October 14 to mark National Hispanic Heritage Month. The Bevevino Library is open from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. Monday through Thursday; from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday; from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday; and from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday.

Wyoming Valley Children’s Association will celebrate its 85th anniversary of serving local children with a dinner event, “A Night in Napa Valley” from 6 to 11 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 17, at the Westmoreland Club, Wilkes-Barre.
The event will feature foods and wines from the California Wine Country, a silent basket auction, the raffle of a trip to the wine country and the sale of a holiday musical CD by Father Jim Paisley of Saint Therese’s Church, Shavertown.

Tanglefoot, the iconic Canadian folk band, is bringing its 2009 Farewell Tour to Misericordia University at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 21, in Lemmond Theater at Walsh Hall.

Kathleen Kelly, co-coordinator of Voice for Creative Nonviolence and internationally-respected peace activist nominated three times for the Nobel Peace Prize, will talk about her global peace efforts during a special lecture at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 5, in Sandy and Marlene Insalaco Hall, rooms 217-218, on the campus of Misericordia University.
