SCHOOL BRIEFS
Wyoming Valley Children’s Association will hold a Book Fair from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today, Nov. 8 at Barnes & Noble, Arena Hub Plaza, Wilkes-Barre.
The local nonprofit agency will receive a percentage of all sales made with a special voucher that day at the store.
Vouchers can be obtained by calling Wyoming Valley Children’s Association at 714-1246.
The American Culinary Federation Professional Chefs of Northeastern PA will hold its 21st Annual Progressive Dinner at 6 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 9, at Bentley’s Entertainment Complex, Ashley.
Tickets may be purchased for $125 per person by calling 675-7003.
Proceeds from the event will benefit Wyoming Valley Children’s Association, a non-profit agency that provides therapy for children who have developmental disabilities and preschool education for all children.
The Dallas High School Lock-In Committee will have a bake sale at the Parent-Teacher conferences at the high school on Wednesday, Nov. 11, to benefit the graduating seniors.
The committee will also hold a bake sale at the school’s fall play on Friday, Nov. 20, and Saturday, Nov. 21.
The Dallas Lock-In Committee will hold a fundraiser at Friendly’s Restaurant in Dallas from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 12.
A percentage of the sales will be donated to the Lock-In on eat-in and take-out orders. The Lock-In is an alcohol-free, drug-free, fully-chaperoned, all-night party for the graduating class on June 4, 2010.
The Misericordia University Social Work Club is hosting photojournalist Gary F. Clark, who will present the talk, “The Face of Homelessness in Northeastern Pennsylvania,” at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 17, in Huntzinger Room 218 of Insalaco Hall.
Clark, a member of the NEPA Homeless Coalition, is a retired professor of art at Bloomsburg University where he taught computer art and drawing.
The Dallas High School 2010 Graduation Lock-In Committee will meet at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 18, in the high school library.
Grocery certificates for Mr. Z’s and Thomas’ Family Market will be sold in increments of $50. Students are asked to bring in a baby or toddler photo and a senior photo for the Lock-In video. Photos will be returned the night of the Lock-In.
Undergraduate parents, as well as senior parents, are encouraged to attend the meeting.
The Lake-Lehman High School Class of 1989 will hold its 20th anniversary class reunion on Friday, Nov.27, at Irem Temple Country Club.
