Only Yesterday

A flashing, sparkling ball of light streaked across the sky Saturday evening as thousands of people from all over the Eastern United States looked on. The yet unidentified flying object was also spotted in the Back Mountain area.

Dallas Post reporter Scott Davis was driving home from a news assignment when the object appeared in the sky. “I was driving along Route118 near Sweet Valley when the object appeared,” he recalled. “It looked like a fast-moving comet at first; it streaked across the sky on the left side of the road.”

Davis said he pulled his car off the road and watched the object streak across the sky for about 60 seconds. “It had a glowing round head with a bright tail trailing behind,” he said adding, “but it was moving too fast to be a comet.”

According to the Associated Press Sunday, thousands of people reported sighting the bluish-green light in the sky. Although some experts are saying the light could have been an unusually large meteorite, they admit they are not sure.
