OBITUARIES
ANTOS - Phyllis I., 62, of Dallas, died Tuesday, April 28, 2009.
Born on October 28, 1946 in Parsons, she was a 1964 graduate of Coughlin High School.
Surviving are her husband, John; daughter, Holly; of Dallas; sister, Evelyn Kanyok, of Tunkhannock; and brother, Leroy Jones, of Wilkes-Barre.
CRAWFORD - Marguerite Ann, 70, of Hunlock Creek, died Saturday, May 2, 2009 in The Heritage House, Wilkes-Barre.
Born March 13, 1939 in Wilkes-Barre, she was ormerly employed by Ace Hoffman Studios in Plymouth and also by Wachovia in Plymouth.
She was a member of All Saints Parish and was a volunteer for the Catherine McCauley House and the St. Vincent DePaul Soup Kitchen.
Surviving are her children, P.J., Wilkes-Barre; Molly Richardson, Harleysville; Michael, Wilkes-Barre; sister, Helen Folek, New Jersey; brothers, William Nilon, Ashley; Robert Nilon, Wilkes-Barre; eight grandchildren.

CULVER - Christopher A. Sr., 39, of Pittston, died Monday, April 27, 2009 at home.
Born in Wilkes-Barre on April 18, 1970, he was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Dallas.
He was a graduate of Dallas High School, Class of 1988 and a graduate of the Culinary Institute of American, New Hyde Park, N.Y. He was employed as head chef at Parente’s Restaurant, Main Street, Pittston.
Surviving are his parents, William and Dianna (Paul) Smith, of Trucksville; step-father, William Smith; son, Christopher Jr., Swoyersville; sister, Kimberly Karasinski, Swoyersville; three half-sisters; a half-brother; and his fianc�e, Patsy Hubert, Duryea.

DENNIS - Florence L., 85, of Dallas, died Monday, April 27, 2009 at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
Born in Wilkes-Barre on July 17, 1923, she graduated from Larksville High School in 1940 and from Wyoming Seminary Business School in 1941.
She was employed in the accounting office of Luzerne County Human Resources Department for 20 years and also by the former Commonwealth Telephone Co., of Dallas.
She served as a past Worthy Matron and also sang in the choir of the Dallas Chapter 396 Order of the Eastern Star and was a member of the Valley View Union Chapel of Larksville, the Civil War Roundtable, the Back Mountain Senior Citizens Club, the Lake Silkworth Protective Association and was an honorary member of the Americal Division of World War II Veterans.
Surviving are her son, Donald, of Doylestown; daughter, Diane Julian, of Jefferson, Md.; brothers, Robert Law, of Dallas, and Thomas Law, of Larksville; sister, Grayce Hicks, of Meshoppen; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

DULA - Agnes A. (Kruzel), 82, of Dallas, formerly of Lake Shickshinny, died Wednesday, April 29, 2009.
Born on December 9, 1926 in Plymouth, she was a member of All Saints Parish, Plymouth, and a graduate of Plymouth High School, Class of 1943. Prior to retirement, she was employed at A&P Market, Plymouth and Wilkes-Barre.
She was a member of the Albright Church, Wilkes-Barre Chapter of the Rainbow Seniors, the Wyoming Valley United Way, the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Post 359 of Nanticoke, the Teamsters Local 401 Retirees, the American Retired Alliance of AFL-CIO Group and the Veterans Administration Medical Center Volunteer.
Surviving are her children, Edward M., of Coatesville; David P., of Jacksonville, N.C.; and Denise A. Newcomb, of Dallas, with whom she resided; seven grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
EMERSHAW – Louis A., of Dallas, died Sunday, May 3, 2009 at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
Born on May 12, 1962 in Kingston, he was a member of the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Dallas. He was employed by Pride Mobility.
Surviving are his father, Louis, Wyoming; his wife, the former Deborah Cease, Dallas; sister, Diane Fabbo, Clarks Summit; two brothers, Bryan, Shavertown; Edward, Dallas; one nephew.

HOLMES - Doris Frances, 91, formerly of Center Moreland, died Saturday, February 28, 2009 at the Diamond Ridge Health and Rehabilitation Center, Lecanto, Fla.
She was born on April 3, 1917.
Surviving are her daughters, Mrs. Dennis (Nancy) Knizer, of Beverly Hills, Fla.; and Mrs. John (Lorraine) Norris, of Lompoc, Calif.; sister, Jean Heller, of LaPlata, Md.; and five grandchildren.
MEKA - Dr. Edward M., of Harveys Lake, died Wednesday, April 29, 2009 at home.
Born July 1, 1928 in Jessup, he was educated in Clifford Township and graduated from Forest City High School, Class of 1946. He graduated from Temple University in 1953.
After graduation, he served in the U.S. Navy Dental Corps as Lt. j.g. aboard the U.S. Shenandoah from 1953 to 1955 during the Korean War. Dr. Meka then set up a private practice in Benton in 1955. He retired from private practice and continued to be the dentist for the Benton School District. His last employment was at the State Correctional Institute at Dallas as a dentist from 1985 to 2000.
Dr. Meka was a member of the American Dental Association, VFW Post 4909, Dupont; Catholic War Vets 274 and the Harveys Lake American Legion Post 967.
Surviving are his wife of 23 years, the former Lois Egenski; nieces and nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews; great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.

NELSON - Julia E., 89, a resident of Wesley Village, Jenkins Township, died Monday, May 4, 2009.
Born in Tunkhannock, she was a graduate of Tunkhannock High School.
She was a volunteer for the Bucks County Association for the Blind. In 2003, she relocated to Brooks Estates, Jenkins Township and was a member of the First United Methodist Church of West Pittston.
Surviving are a step-daughter, Deanna Price, Lodi, Calif.; two step-grandsons; several great-grandchildren; sisters, Helen Biles, Jenkins Township; Ida Ellis, Jenkins Township; Esther Alt, Zionsville, Ind.; Mildred Ellis, Jenkins Township; brothers, Albert Ellis, Montrose; Bud Ellis, Exeter; nieces and nephews.
