OBITUARIES
CULBERSON - Patricia Shuleski, 54, died Saturday, June 6, 2009.
Born in Dallas, she relocated to Norfolk, Va. in 1973 to attend Old Dominion University. When she graduated, she began teaching for Chesapeake Public Schools. She later obtained a master’s degree in education and enjoyed a 30-year teaching career before she retired.
Surviving are her husband, Timothy Culberson; and her brother, Gus Shuleski.
FEDERICI - Daniel “Duke” Thomas, 69, of Trucksville, died Wednesday, June 10, 2009.
Born June 16, 1939 in Scranton, he was a graduate of Westmoreland High School and had attended King’s College.
Prior to his retirement, he had been employed as a buyer for Inter Metro. Prior to that, he had been employed by the Citizens’ Voice, of which he was one of the founders.
He was a member of the Irem Golf Association, the George M. Dallas Lodge #531, F. & A.M. and the Shriners of North America. He was a member of St. Therese’s Church, Shavertown and was a coach of Back Mountain Baseball for many years.
Surviving are his wife of 48 years, the former Ruth Elizabeth Phillips; children, Cheryl Evans, of Harrisburg; Karen R. Bevevino, of Dallas; and Stephen Federici, of Dallas; eight grandchildren.

GABLE - Catherine Gable, of Tunkhannock, died Tuesday, June 9, 2009 at Robert Packer Hospital.
Born in Belmullet County Mayo, Ireland on March 21, 1937, she arrived in New York City in 1955. She and her husband, Carl, began Gable’s Bakery on Main Street in Tunkhannock in 1959.
She was a member of the Tunkhannock Assembly of God Church.
Surviving are her husband, Carl; children, Eileen, of Chicago, Ill.; Alice, of Tunkhannock; Paul and Dominique, of Signal Mountain, Tenn.; Jonathan and Jennifer, of Fairfield, Conn.; three grandchildren; sisters, Mary Hayes, of Stony Point, N.Y.; Eileen Caffreky, of Birmingham, England; and Bridget Ruddy, of Inver, Ireland; nieces and nephews.
Memorial donations to the Tunkhannock Assembly of God Church Scholarship Fund, 181 N. Bridge St., Tunkhannock.
LABAR - Nancy Cooper, 52, of Dallas, died Sunday, June 14, 2009 at home.
Born in Kingston on September 30, 1956, she graduated from Dallas High School, Class of 1974, and received her nurse’s training at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
She was a member of the Noxen Bible Baptist Church, where she served as church secretary for the last 15 years. She was active in her church as a Sunday School teacher and chaired several committees.
Surviving are her mother, Lois Williams Cooper, of Wilkes-Barre; her husband of 33 years, Woody LaBar; sons, David W. LaBar, of Orlando, Fla.; and Matthew B. LaBar, of Harveys Lake; sisters, Dorothy Richards, of Deltona, Fla., and Ruth Proietto, of Plymouth.
MUNKATCHY - William F., 79, of Noxen, died Friday, June 12, at his home.
Born in Wilkes-Barre, he was a graduate of Beaumont High School. For most of his life, he was a dairy farmer, living in Noxen. He was also a member of the Noxen United Methodist Church.
Surviving are his children, Genevieve, Michael, William and Matthew, all of Noxen; Linda Eckhart Brown, Tunkhannock; Raymond Eckhart, Beaumont; five grandchildren; a sister, Eunice Haverick, East Stroudsburg; nieces and nephews.
