OBITUARIES
ALISHUSKY - Ronald P., 57, of Dallas, died Saturday, July 25, 2009 at the Inpatient Unit of Hospice Community Care, Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre.
Born in Wilkes-Barre, he was a graduate of GAR High School, Class of 1970, and Williamsport Community College. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War and was a recipient of the AF Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal and the AF Longevity Service Award Ribbon.
He was formerly employed by the Union Paper Supply Company and lastly by Golden Business Machines, Kingston.
Surviving are his wife of 10 years, the former Patricia Pryce; stepsons, Jason and Jordan, both of Dallas; Joey, of Ashley; Joshua, of Pittsburgh; three grandchildren; sisters, Charlotte Smith and Rosanne Wunner, both of Virginia; Marlene Dellarte, of Larksville; nieces and nephews.
DEMPSKI - Robert E., Ph.D., 75, of Dresher, died Friday, July 24, 2009 at Abington Memorial Hospice, Warminster.
Born on a farm in Center Moreland on July 3, 1934, he attended a two-room grade school in Center Moreland.
He was a graduate of Kingston High School and, after receiving a Breyer’s Scholarship, graduated from the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy & Science with a Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy in 1956. He earned a doctorate in pharmaceutics from the University of Wisconsin in 1960. As a graduate student, he received the Rennebohm Award for excellence in teaching.
For 35 years, he was employed at Merck and Co., West Point, Pa., where he held several positions and retired as Director of Pharmaceutical Development in 1995. He held seven patents and had 12 publications in his name. He was a registered pharmacist in Pennsylvania since 1956 and a member of the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists.
Dempski was a horticulture volunteer at the Morris Arboretum in Chestnut Hill, a founder of the Nockamixon Sailing Club and a Fourth Degree member of Knights of Columbus, Notre Dame Council, Ambler. He also served as Grand Knight from 2000-2002. He was also a member of St. Alphonsus Church in Maple Glen for 41 years.
Surviving are his wife of 42 years, Margaret (Pinker) Dempski; children, Anne Messner, Ph.D.; Sarah Koch; and Robert E. Dempski Jr., Ph.D.; four grandchildren; a sister, Florence White; several nieces and nephews.

EVANS - Loretta H., 89, formerly of Dallas, died Sunday, July 19, 2009 in Avon Park, Fla.
Born July 13, 1920 in Newport News, Va., she was a secretary for a steel company, member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Avon Park.
Surviving are her daughter, Gordine Dever, of Amherst, Ohio; seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
GRIFFITH - Claire Montanye, 83, of Dallas, died Saturday, July 25, 2009 at Lakeside Nursing Center, Harveys Lake.
Born in Pottsville, she was a graduate of Meyers High School, Wilkes Barre, Class of 1943, and received her degree as a registered nurse from Luzerne County Community College in 1979. She had resided in Bethel, Conn., where she was a licensed realtor.
She returned to Dallas in the early 1970s and was employed by the State of Pennsylvania at Clarks Summit State Hospital, retiring from the State Correctional Institution, Dallas.
She was a member of the Mensa Society and a volunteer at the Back Mountain Memorial Library.
Surviving are her son, Parke F. Jr., Kingston; daughter, Carolyn Bulford, Dallas; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.

HOGAN - Anita M., 65, of Tunkhannock, died Tuesday, July 21, 2009 at the Tyler Memorial Hospital, Tunkhannock.
Born May 7, 1944 in Scranton, she was employed by Shadow Brook, Tunkhannock, for 20 years and was last employed by Procter & Gamble Paper Products, Mehoopany, for 11 years.
Surviving are her husband of 41 years, Kenneth D. Hogan; a daughter, Brenda Lee Stang, of Tunkhannock; two grandchildren; one great-grandson; a brother, Thomas Wheeler, of Wilkes-Barre Township; sisters, Harriet Green, of Texas; and Deborah Dixon, of Falls.

MARTIN - Kenneth “Bubbles” C. Sr., 76, of Kunkle, died Sunday, July 26, 2009 at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
Born March 16, 1933 in Dallas, he graduated from Dallas Township High School in 1951 and served in the U.S. Army as an airplane mechanic in Colorado during the Korean War.
He many business ventures, including a restaurant, a sporting goods store, car hauling and Martin’s Service Station. He also hauled steel and machinery around the country for many companies in the Wyoming Valley.
He was a AAA service provider in the Back Mountain area since 1978 and had been a member of the Rattlesnake Rod and Gun Club, Noxen, the Kunkle United Methodist Church, was a founding member of the Back Mountain Enduro Riders and a lifetime honorary member of the Harveys Lake Fire Department.
Surviving are his children, Kenneth C. Jr., of Ocala, Fla.; Cynthia Foss, of Harveys Lake; and William, of Kunkle; six grandchildren; sisters, Shirley Hoover, of Dallas, and Sandra Newell, of Kunkle.

MOORE - Edward “Ed,” 47, of Muhlenburg, died Friday, July 24, 2009.
Born March 1, 1962, he attended Dallas High School, later earned his GED and then went on to graduate from Williamsport Area Community College, achieving the dean’s list every semester. He was a member of Dallas United Methodist Church.
Locally, he had worked at Ertley Cadillac and Bonner Chevrolet until starting his own business, Back Mountain Auto Body, which he successfully operated for many years until he moved to Mesa, Ariz. Returning home, he became business partners with Steve Kamenstein at Quality Collision as the company’s vice president and general manager.
Surviving are his parents, Lena and John Baur, of Dallas; and Ed and Terri Moore, of Throop; a daughter, Crista Moore, of Carrollton, Texas; one grandson; brothers and sisters, Lynnette Ashley, Shavertown; Walter Moore, Plains; Mike Baur, Dallas; Julie Meletsky, Harveys Lake; Randy Senapedis and Veronica Price, Scranton; Patty Nyberg, Scranton; Richard Senapedis, Throop; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

RAUCH - Elsie, 92, formerly of Harveys Lake, died Monday, July 27, 2009 in the Highland Manor Nursing and Convalescent Center, Exeter.
Born in Harveys Lake, she was a graduate of Dallas Township High School and studied cosmetology. She was a self-employed beautician for many years.
She was a member of the Alderson United Methodist Church of Harveys Lake and a founder of the Harveys Lake Women’s Service Club.
Surviving are her sons, Bradley, of Port Orange, Fla.; Kendall, of Daytona, Fla.; three grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
