OBITUARIES
ASTON - Carl V., 82, formerly of Chase Manor, Shavertown, died Saturday, Oct. 24, 2009 at the Golden Living Center, East Mountain, Plains Township.
Born in Wilkes-Barre, he graduated from Lehman Township High School and worked at Chase Dairy for 28 years.
He also worked for the Lake-Lehman School District until his retirement.
He was the oldest living member of the Jackson Township Volunteer Fire Co. and was a past member of its ambulance association.
He served as the township auditor and supervisor for many years. He was also a World War II U.S. Army veteran, serving in Italy.
Surviving are his daughters, Diane Kreller, of Sweet Valley; Kathy Mascola, of West Milford, N.J.; a son, Barry, of Sweet Valley; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.

MAHLE - Elizabeth “Betty” R., 89, of Meeker, died Thursday, Oct. 22, 2009 at Lakeside Nursing Center, Harveys Lake.
Born in Kingston on July 27, 1920, she he resided in Meeker for over 60 years.
She was employed at the former Linear Corp., Dallas, for 13 years, the Lori-Charles Dress Factory in Luzerne for 15 years and the Lake-Noxen Elementary School for 10 years, retiring in 2000.
She was a member of the Trinity Presbyterian Church, Dallas.
Surviving are sons, Charles Raver, of Fishkill, N.Y.; David, of Meeker; John, of Shavertown; Fred, of Dallas; Richard, of Virginia; daughter, Shirley Mros, of Plains Township; sister, Lois Shaughnessy, of Connecticut; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
McCLOSKEY - Ann Jaworsky, of Lehman Township, formerly of Taylor, died Friday, Oct. 23, 2009 at The Meadows Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Dallas.
Born in Dunmore, she was a 1948 graduate of Dunmore High School and had been employed in the garment industry for many years.
Surviving are her husband of 39 years, Donald V.; son, Joseph Kadlubowski, of Dickson City; daughters, Annmarie Michlowski, of Gainesville, Va.; and Kelly Sabaluski, of Lehman.
MULDERIG - Gerald A., formerly of Kingston and Dallas, died Sunday, Oct. 11, 2009 in State College where he had resided with his wife, the former Mary Vahey, since 2005.
SHAW - Kay Arlene, of Silver Spring, Md., and formerly of Dallas, died Friday, Oct. 16, 2009.
Surviving are her husband, Clarence Lee Shaw, sons, Jeffrey and Douglas; daughters, Candy Pickett and Lisa Jackson; nine grandchildren; brothers, James and Fred Gansel.

STANKUS - Joseph Jacob, 64, of Dallas, died Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2009 in the University of Pennsylvania Hospital, Philadelphia.
Born in Kingston, he was a graduate of Central Catholic High School, Kingston, Class of 1963; Wilkes College, Wilkes-Barre; received his master’s degree from the University of Scranton and took additional courses at Temple University.
He retired from teaching Social Studies at the West Side Vocational-Technical School, Pringle, after 36 years. More recently, he was an adjunct contributor at Temple University.
He bred and trained German Shorthair Pointers and was a member of the Franklin Township Zoning Board.
Surviving are his wife of 41 years, the former Tanya Tadic; aunts and uncles, a nephew and cousins.
