OBITUARIES
BUDA - Eleanor T. “Terri,” 61, of Sweet Valley, died Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009 at her home.
Born in Kingston, she was a graduate of West Side Central Catholic High School. She earned a bachelor’s degree from College Misericordia, a master’s degree from the University of Scranton and engaged in doctoral studies at Penn State University.
Before retiring, she was employed as a middle school teacher in the Dallas School District for 34 years. She was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Lake Silkworth.
Surviving are her sisters, Rosemarie Jackowski, Bennington, Vt.; Mary Lou Arsenault, Nantucket, Mass.; Subagh Khalsa, Sao Paolo, Brazil; nieces and nephews.
DYMOND - Ramona M., 75, of Shavertown, died Thursday, Nov. 5, 2009 in the Hospice Community Care Inpatient Unit, Wilkes-Barre.
Born in Wilkes-Barre, she was a graduate of Westmoreland High School and a lifelong resident of Shavertown.
In 1974, she co-founded the Dallas High School Mother’s Club. She was a Meals on Wheels volunteer, active in a Quilt Club and was a recent participant in Leadership Wilkes-Barre’s Senior Program. She was an active member of St. Therese’s Church, Shavertown, where she served as an Ecumenical Minister, was a member of Friends and New Neighbors, the Altar and Rosary Society and the church choir.
Surviving are sons, Carl M. Jr., Dallas; Edward, Harrisonburg, Va., and John, Shavertown; five grandchildren; brothers, Raymond Balut, Harper’s Ferry, W.Va.; Stephan Balut, Falls Church, Va.; sister, Barbara Watkins, Leesburg, Va.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

HARRISON - Thomas J., 83, of Trucksville, died Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2009 at The Laurels at Kingston.
Born in Trucksville, he attended Kingston Township High School. Before retiring, he was employed as a vice president by Sterling Products, Kingston.
An Army veteran of World War II, he was a member of the Trucksville United Methodist Church, the George M. Dallas Lodge 531 F.&A.M. and Caldwell Consistory, Bloomsburg.
Surviving are a son, Wayne T., of Southampton; and a daughter, Joan, of Stanfordville, N.Y.
HINNEGAN - Kathleen Helen, of Center Square, died Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2009.
Born in Germantown, Pa., on Feb. 17, 1940 and raised in Hatboro, Pa., she was a graduate of Hatboro-Horsham High School, Class of 1957.
She went on to become a nurse and graduated from Montgomery Hospital School of Nursing, Class of 1960. She worked as an operating room nurse at Montgomery Hospital for more than 30 years.
Surviving are her mother, Helen Franklin, of Jackson Township; daughters, Kathy Ann DiClementi, of Center Square; Dianna Waclawski, of Skillman, N.J.; six grandchildren; and her former husband, Frank J. Hinnegan.

HOWELL - Brenda Lee, of Terry’s Lane, Nicholson, died Friday, Nov. 6, 2009 at her home.
She was born in Tunkhannock on March 4, 1959.
Surviving are her husband of nine years, Gary; a son, Gary Dustin, and a daughter, Justina Marie, both at home; and a brother, James E. Murphy, of Tunkhannock.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 16, at the Sheldon-Kukuchka Funeral Home, 73 W. Tioga St., Tunkhannock, with the Rev. Richard Wormer officiating.

PUTERA - Dolores M. Yatsko, a resident at Lakeside Nursing Center, Harveys Lake, died Thursday, Nov. 5, 2009.
Born in Swoyersville on Oct. 10, 1927, she attended Swoyersville schools and was employed as a seamstress in the area garment factories. She was a member of the ILGWU, the Ladies Auxiliary, Post No. 644, Swoyersville; The Maltby Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary, Swoyersville; and the Edwardsville No. 1 Hose Co. Ladies Auxiliary.
Surviving are her daughter, Carol Fronczkiewicz, Forty Fort; sons, Edward J., of Georgia; and David P., of Sweet Valley; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brothers, Richard Adamchick, Trucksville; and Steven Adamchick, Dupont; nieces and nephews.

RIGONI - John J. Jr., 91, a resident of Meadows Manor, Dallas, formerly of Wyoming Street, Wilkes-Barre, died Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2009 at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
Born on Dec. 3, 1917 in Wilkes-Barre, he was a graduate of Coughlin High School, Class of 1936.
During World War II, he served in the Central European Theater with the 16th Armored Division Headquarters Battery Division Artillery and was deployed to the 1st Infantry Division (The Big Red One). He was a typesetter for the division newspaper, The American Traveler, published in Gunzenhausen, Germany.
As a young man, he began his career in the newspaper industry at the Wilkes-Barre Record (today’s The Times Leader). He served a full composing room apprenticeship and was employed as a journeyman printer for 46 continuous years for The Times Leader, retiring June 27, 1980.
He was a member of the International Typographical Union No. 187, where he served several elected terms as recording secretary and served on the Defense Committee. He was elected as a delegate in 1954 to the International Typographical Union’s 96th Convention in St. Paul, Minn.
He was a member of Sacred Heart Church, North Main Street, Wilkes-Barre and was the last of the “Roaring Twenties Men” from Public Square.
Surviving are his daughters, Carol Sharaba, Plains Township; and Linda Zanelli, Dallas; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister, Josephine Dente, King of Prussia; nieces and nephews.
RUDICK – Michael, “Sparky,” died Thursday, Nov. 5, 2009 at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center after a courageous fight with lung cancer.
He graduated valedictorian of Larksville High School, Class of 1950 and lived a major portion of his life in Trucksville where he worked for Linear Corp. and then as an electrician. He then moved to Toms River, N.J., where he worked for, and retired from, Smith, Kline Beecham Drug Company.
Most recently, he retired back to Huntington Mills. He was a coach and an umpire with the Back Mountain Little League for many years. He was a veteran of the Korean War and a board member at the Shickshinny American Legion Post 945
Surviving are his children, Maria “Terry” Sutton, Dallas; Linda Fritzges, Trucksville; Michael, Swoyersville; Donald, Denver, Colo.; William, Quarryville; and Patricia Smith, York; brothers, Thomas, Horsham; and Joseph, Kingston; 13 grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

SHULTZ - Cory Anthony, 23, of Dallas, died Monday, Nov. 9, 2009 as a result of injuries from an automobile accident.
Born in Kingston, he was a graduate of Dallas High School, Class of 2004, and Wilkes University with a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing in 2008. He was employed as a clerk by Lakeside Bistro, Harveys Lake, and worked with his father at Shultz Masonry.
He was a member of the Shavertown United Methodist Church.
Surviving are his parents, Stanley and Debbie Shultz of Dallas; paternal grandmother, Roseann Shultz, Swoyersville; aunts, Kim Shafer, Matawan, N.J.; Karen Nat, Swoyersville; uncles, David Shultz, Trucksville, Douglas Roberts, Portland, Conn., Walter D. Roberts III, Wilkes-Barre; as well as several cousins.

THIER - Elizabeth Barbara, 86, of Dallas, died Thursday, Oct. 29, 2009 in Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
Born Jan. 15, 1923 in Kingston, she was a graduate of Kingston High School. She lived in and maintained a home that she and her husband built in 1951.
Surviving are her children, John Eric and Diane Gledhill.
