obituaries

BREZINSKI - Alexander D., 78, of Trucksville, died Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2008 at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.

Born and raised in Kingston, he was a U.S. Air Force veteran, attaining the rank of Corporal. He was employed for 40 years at the Acme Warehouse, retiring in 1991. He was a member of St. Therese’s Catholic Church, Shavertown.

Surviving are his wife, the former Mary E. McGrellis; his son, Alan, Dallas; daughter, Marlene, Wilkes-Barre; and grandchildren.

COOLBAUGH - Laing N., 67, of Larksville, formerly of Dallas, died Thursday, Dec. 12, 2008 at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.

Born in Kingston, he was a graduate of Westmoreland High School, Class of 1960. Before retiring, he was employed as a chauffeur by Black Tie Luxury Limousine and served as a private chauffeur for William Powell.

He was a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church, Edwardsville, and served with the Navy during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He was a former member of the Lehman Golf Course.

Surviving are his wife of 47 years, Priscilla Martin Coolbaugh; daughter, Cathylee Shoemaker, Larksville; son, Mark A., Luzerne; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Memorial donations to the Zachary B. Shoemaker Foundation at any Wachovia Bank branch.

DECKER - Alice Mae, of Tunkhannock, died Friday, Dec. 12, 2008 at the Golden Living Center, Tunkhannock, where she was a guest.

Born in Lawton on February 26, 1921, she was a graduate of Rush High School, Class of 1940, and attended the Russell Hill United Methodist Church.

Surviving are a son, Jerry, of Tunkhannock; sisters, Joan Van Cise, of Elmira, N.Y.; and Ruby Traver, of Port Charlotte, Fla.; five grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.

EVANS - Lee T., 68, of Shavertown, died Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2008 at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.

Born in Kingston, he worked for Techneglas, Jenkins Township before retiring. He was a member of the Huntsville United Methodist Church.

Surviving are his mother, Arlene Hoover Evans, of Dunellen, Fla.; his wife of 43 years, Cynthia Disque Evans; daughter, Jessica, Chase; brothers, Curtis, Scot Run; Thomas “Tim,” Dallas; sisters, Lois Waltich and Barbara Evans, Dunellen, Fla.; and two grandsons.

Memorial donations to Huntsville United Methodist Church, 2355 Huntsville Rd., Shavertown, PA 18708.

KUSH - Joseph Sr., 76, of Atherholt Drive, Kingston Township, died Saturday, Dec. 13, 2008 at the Meadows Nursing Center, Dallas.

Born August 12, 1932 in Kingston, he had attended Larksville schools. He was a member of Gate of Heaven Church, Dallas. Prior to his retirement, he had been employed by the Lehigh Dairy for more than 30 years.

Surviving are his children, Patti Morris and Joseph Jr., both of Dallas; four grandchildren; sister, Genevieve Keefe, Pringle; and numerous nieces and nephews.
