Carr notes 104th year

Jule Carr, a resident at Mercy Center in Dallas, celebrated her 104th birthday. She was entertained by John Stankey at a party attended by her many friend at the Mercy Center.

Born Jule Martin in Pringle, Jule and her husband, the late Hugh Carr, lived in the East End section of Wilkes-Barre from 1925 until 2006 when Mrs. Carr became a resident of Mercy Center.

Hugh Carr was a Wilkes-Barre city fire captain and Jule worked as a dietary staff member of the Veterans Administration Hospital.

The couple had four children, Robert and Hugh Jr., both deceased; Jule Leonard and Maurita Bushmer. There are also 26 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

Jule’s hobbies included staying active at the senior citizens and quilting with the Holy Savior Quilter Club. She also loved to cook, bake and shop.
