‘Stand By Sarah’ will help offset medical costs for Sarah Flannery

Sarah Flannery, a 2009 graduate of Dallas Senior High School, was recently diagnosed with Thymoma, a rare cancerous tumor that has partially surrounded her heart.

Sarah and her parents, Jim and Liz Flannery, of Shavertown, will travel to the Indianapolis University Cancer Center on August 22 where Sarah is scheduled for surgery.

Stand By Sarah is a 3-hour fund raiser that will include great music, a buffet dinner and non-alcoholic beverages. A cash bar will be available.

All proceeds will be used to offset the substantial expenses related to Sarah’s surgery and recovery.

Very active in her community and church, Sarah is a piano student and performer, an athlete and scholar.

She is a Northeastern Pennsylvania Music Teachers Association winner, a National Guild of Piano Teachers Paderewski Medal Recipient, a Pennsylvania Music Teachers Association State Festival Performer, member of the Wyoming Valley Conference All-Star Volleyball Team, a The Times Leader All-Star, a Citizens’ Voice volleyball All-Star, Winner of the Suzanne Maria Rossetti Memorial Art Contest, a member of National Society of High School Scholars, National Honors Convocation and Science Olympiad.

Sarah plans to attend Susquehanna University.
