Catholic Schools Week noted

The Diocese of Scranton and Gate of Heaven School will celebrate Catholic Schools week Sunday, Jan. 31 - Saturday, Feb. 6.

Gate of Heaven School parents will kick off Catholic Schools week by sharing their enthusiasm for Gate of Heaven School, speaking at all of the weekend Masses, Jan. 30 and 31.

Parents will also speak at all of the Gate of Heaven feeder parishes, including Gate of Heaven Church, St. Francis Cabrini, Carverton, St. Therese’s in Shavertown and Our Lady of Victory, Harveys Lake.

Gate of Heaven School children are asked to wear their school uniforms to Mass this weekend and parents to wear their school spirit sweatshirts or t-shirts. For the week the following events planned:

Sunday, Jan. 31: Kick-off masses at Gate of Heaven, St Therese’s, Our Lady of Victory, St. Francis Cabrini. Children should wear school uniforms; Open House, 1:30pm - 3:30pm.

Monday, Feb.1, 2010: Talent Show, 8:30 to 11 a.m., school gym; Prayer Service: Help for Haiti, 1 p.m., church where Pennies for Haiti will be collected by students; ice cream social during lunchtime.

Tuesday, Feb.2: Dress in favorite sports team, $2/student. Monies collected will benefit Catholic Social Services; Nickels for Haiti will be collected by students.

Wednesday, Feb. 3: Catholic Schools Week liturgy, 9 a.m., church; Dimes for Haiti will be collected by students.

Thursday, Feb. 4: Crazy Hat/Crazy Sock Day; Quarters for Haiti will be collected by students.

Friday, Feb. 5: Green and White Basketball Game, 8:15 to 11 a.m., school gym; Monetary donations for Haiti will be collected by students.
