Dallas School District schedules registration for first-time students

Frank Galicki, superintendent of the Dallas School District, announces kindergarten registration for the 2010-2011 school year will be held March 9, 10, 11 and 12 in the library of the Dallas Elementary School on Hildebrandt Avenue, Dallas.

Morning hours will be from 9 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. and afternoon hours are from 1 to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday.

The following schedule will be followed according to the first letter of the student’s last name:

A and B - Tuesday morning, March 9

C, D and E - Tuesday afternoon, March 9

F, G and H - Wednesday morning, March 10

I, J, K, L and M - Wednesday afternoon, March 10

N, O, P, Q and R - Thursday morning, March 11

S and T - Thursday afternoon, March 11

U, V, W, X, Y and Z - Friday morning, March 12

The children who will enter first grade but did not attend the Dallas kindergarten program this past term and any second through fifth-grade students may register on Friday afternoon, March 12.

A child must be five (5) years of age on or before September 1, 2010 to make him/her eligible for kindergarten. A birth certificate, passport or baptismal certificate will be accepted as proof of age.

Parent/guardian photo is required when registering a student. Parents must also provide two proofs of parent/guardian residency.

In addition to the registration, vision, speech and kindergarten readiness screenings will be given.
