Students read; everybody wins

Students at the Lehman-Jackson Elementary School read 612 poems during the month of May so they could earn a concert.

The concert they earned, though, wasn’t just any concert because Principal Marilyn Glogowski promised to sing with the band if students read enough poems to go all the way around the school.

Davey Werkheiser, a Jimmy Buffet tribute singer, warmed up the crowd. Then, Mrs. Glogowski and her band, “The Salt Shakers,” worked their way onto the stage – much to the delight of students and faculty, as well.

The reading challenge is sponsored by the Lehman-Jackson Elementary Reading is Fundamental (RIF) group. RIF is a national organization that promotes reading.
