Wyoming Seminary recently awarded Upper School Merit Scholarships to three freshman students from the Back Mountain.

MARTIN

CURTIS
Lauren Fernandez, of Dallas, received the first place, full tuition, four-year scholarship.
The daughter of Robert Fernandez of Dallas and Christine Fernandez of Weatherly, she completed eighth grade at Dallas Junior High School where she was named to the National Junior Honor Society.
While at Dallas, she was a member of the field hockey and track and field team. She also enjoys dance and playing jazz.
Jason Curtis, of Dallas, the son of John and Judy Curtis, received a partial, four-year scholarship. He previously attended the American Boys Choir School in Princeton, New Jersey.
His interests include vocal and instrumental music, soccer, tennis and art.
Tyler Martin, of Shavertown, son of Denise Martin, of Shavertown and Frank Martin, of Luzerne, received a partial, four-year scholarship.
He previously attended Wyoming Valley West Middle School, where he was named to the National Junior Honor Society. He plays basketball and baseball and is interested in mathematics.
The Merit Scholarship Exam program recognizes the exceptional academic talent of eighth and ninth-graders from schools other than Wyoming Seminary. The winners are chosen on the basis of their performance on a competitive exam, interviews and teacher recommendations.
