LEHMAN TWP. – Lake-Lehman hung on

LEHMAN TWP. – Lake-Lehman hung on for five-set with against North Pocono on Monday in a Wyoming Valley Conference volleyball match.

The scores were 26-24, 25-20, 24-26, 15-25 and 15-11. Caitlyn Gashi had 17 kills while Ellen Matza added 10 kills. Tiffany Oplinger added six kills, six service points, and three blocks.

Molly Morrell had 11 service points and eight aces to lead North Pocono. Tyler Bocam added 12 kills, while Molley Curran had 10 kills.

Delaware Valley 3, Berwick 0

Chelsea Malzahn notched 11 kills, eight service points and three assists to lead Delaware Valley to victory over Berwick by scores of 25-10, 25-13, 25-21.

Krystine Boedeker had 13 service points, four aces and 27 assists, while Kristin Karas posted 10 service points for the Warriors.

Wyoming Area 3, Meyers 0

Biz Eaton recorded 19 assists, 17 service points and seven aces to lead the Warriors to a win against the Mohawks. The scores of the games were 25-14, 25-21, 21-8. Casey Bohan added 15 kills and four blocks for the winners, while Elena DeAngelo finished with seven service points and two kills.

Maddie Lavery led Meyers with five kills and two digs. Carmen Perez added four digs and six assists, while Tess Sauer finished with two digs and two kills.

Tunkhannock 3, Hazleton Area 0

Sierra Wilder had 14 service points and three aces to lead the Tigers in a battle of two solid WVC teams. The scores were 25-17, 25-15 and 25-22. Tunkhannock improved its record to 7-3, while the Cougars fell to 7-3.

Loren Appolonia added seven kills and eight service points for the winners, while Megan Sargent had seven kills.

Michele Vowler had 10 digs and seven kills to lead Hazleton Area. Lindsey Baranko 15 assists and seven digs, Megan Baranko two kills and 10 digs

Holy Redeemer 3, Hanover Area 0

Kristen Bell had 10 service points and six kills, leading the Royals to an easy win. The scores were 25-9, 25-10 and 25-10. Mary Loughran added 25 assists, while Monica Wignot recorded 14 kills. Also playing well for Redeemer were Maura McCormick (18 service points, four kills), Allie Griswold (five kills) and Carly Zaklukiewicz (eight service points).

Jess Batchler led Hanover Area with six digs and three assists. Emily Bogarowski added two aces and two kills, while Katie Waitkus recorded six digs.

Coughlin 3, Valley West 1

Jessica Cleary had 27 blocks and nine kills, while teammate Sarah Martin added 19 service points, seven kills and 30 digs as Coughlin won its first match of the season. The scores were 25-17, 22-25, 25-20 and 25-22. Julie Hughes added eight kills, five digs and four service points for the winners.

For Valley West, Shawna Soppeck had eight kills, Casey Harding added seven service points and19 digs, while Heather Pieszala finished with eight service points, six aces, five kills and six digs.

Pittston Area 3, MMI Prep 2

Paula Stravinski had 18 service points, 10 assists, and six kills to lead Pittston Area. The scores were 27-29, 25-23, 15-25, 25-23, 15-10. Amanda Gretz added nine service points, eight digs, and four kills while Emily Ginochetti had 18 digs and seven service points.

Laina Titus led MMI with 24 assists, 11 service points, and four aces. Diana Anthony had 30 digs while Brone Lobischusky added 21 kills.
