Mr. and Mrs. John M. (Jack) Macey, of Plains, recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary May 27, 2017.
They were married May 27, 1967 at St Nicholas Roman Catholic Church by Mr. Macey’s uncle, Rev. Urban Koval, SJ.
The wedding party consisted of family and friends. Matron of honor was the late Arlene Conrad-Wielga, sister of the bride.
Bridesmaids were Sonya Ciotola, Roseann Skapura, the late Maryann Macey, sister of the groom; and junior bridesmaid was Melory O’Lerta.
Mrs Macey is the former Catherine Ann Conrad, daughter of the late Joseph and Anna Yurkoski-Conrad. Mr. Macey is the son of the late John and Helen Koval Macey.
They have a son, John, a pharmacist at Wegman’s; and his wife, Shelli, is a pharmacist at Wilkes University. They have two grandchildren: John, a junior at Dallas High School; and Julia, a student at Dallas Middle School.
Mrs. Macey pursued a government career and retired from the VA Medical Center after 27-years of service. Mr. Macey completed his bachelors degree from Kings College and his master’s degree in social work from Marywood University.
He was employed as a social worker supervisor at Catholic Social Services and retired after 27- years of service.
The couple had their wedding vows renewed by Rev. Joseph D. Verespy at a mass at St. Nicholas Roman Catholic Church.
Following their mass a dinner was served in their honor at the Gallery, Pierce Plaza. The couple will continue their celebration with a trip to Rome in the fall.
The couple will also attend the annual Diocese of Scranton’s wedding anniversary mass and reception in June at St. Peter’s Cathedral, Scranton, where they will have their marriage blessed.
