Mr. and Mrs. Ronald M. Lewis celebrate 50th wedding anniversary

Mr. and Mrs. Ronald M. Lewis of Horseheads, N.Y. celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Nov. 4, 2017. Mrs. Lewis is the former Lenore Ruggere of Kingston. The couple was married at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Binghamton, N.Y. Attendants were Lenore Barbose Janosky, Phyllis Barbose Thomas, and Lee Ann Earl-Sedor. Ushers were Dr. Skip Lenker, the late Boyd Earl, and Krishna Rao. J.B. Earl was ring bearer. Carmela Earl, late sister of the bride, helped design the bride’s gown. Ronald is a wine maker and made the wine served at their wedding.

Ronald Lewis is the son of the late Alex and Celia Lewis of the Bronx, New York, N.Y. Lenore Lewis is the daughter of the late Joseph and Kathryn Ruggere of Kingston.

Ronald and Lenore are both Penn Staters. Ronald is a retired Solid State Materials Scientist. He holds patents for Corning Incorporated, Corning, N.Y. and is the recipient of the National Medal of Technology award, winner of the International Ceramics Prize, and has been inducted into the National Inventors Hall of Fame. Lenore is a retired Title One Reading Teacher and is a current Docent for the Corning Museum of Glass, Corning, New York.

In August, as part of their 50th anniversary celebration, the couple traveled to Idaho to view the total solar eclipse; solar eclipse chasing is a hobby of theirs.

Mr and Mrs Lewis were honored at a 50th wedding anniversary open house with family and friends in Horseheads, N.Y.
