Maura Anne Goodwin and William Joseph Smith III were united in marriage on June 2, 2012, at St. Ignatius Church, Kingston, Pa., by the Rev. John V. Polednak.
The bride is the daughter of Louise Goodwin, Forty Fort, and the late John M. Goodwin. She is the granddaughter of the late Joseph and Nancy Butkiewicz and John A. Goodwin and the late Joan McGeehan Goodwin.
The groom is the son of Karen and William Smith Jr., Forty Fort. He is the grandson of Anne Easton and the late Ralph Easton Jr. and Mary T. Smith and the late William Smith Sr.
The bride was given in marriage by her mother. She chose her sister, Colleen Goodwin, as her maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Launi Smith, sister of the groom; Maggie Gill, cousin of the groom; and Katherine Block, Elise Borchers, Kate Bregman, Tilde Casserleigh, Lisa Cirello, Ariel Henderson, Meaghan Peeler and Kate Powell, friends of the bride.
The groom chose his friends, Ryan Hogan and Robert Nawrocki, as best men. Groomsmen were Joe Pace, cousin of the bride; Brian Gill, cousin of the groom; and Erik Davidson, Daniel Engler, James Gurnari, Joshua Hook, Eugene Klinges, Frank Marcum and Joseph Mashinski, friends of the groom.
Lily Goodwin, cousin of the bride, served as flower girl. Ring bearers were Logan Gibbons and Jack Goodwin, cousins of the bride, and Nate Malarkey, godson of the groom.
Scripture readings were given by Ralph Easton, godfather of the groom, and James Butkiewicz, godfather of the bride. General intercession was given by Laura Hoffman, aunt of the bride. Denise Goodwin Sellar, godmother of the bride, and Nancy Oldziejewski, godmother of the groom, presented the offertory gifts. Musical selections were provided by Dan Simrell.
An evening reception was held at the Scranton Cultural Center, Scranton, Pa. A wedding rehearsal dinner, hosted by the parents of the groom, and a bridal shower, hosted by the bridesmaids and mothers of the bride and groom, were both held at Vanderlyn’s Restaurant, Kingston, Pa. The bride and groom were honored at an engagement party hosted by the mother of the bride at her home.
The bride is a 2002 graduate of Bishop O’Reilly High School and earned her Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from the University of Delaware in 2006. She graduated from the University of Scranton in 2011 with a Master of Science degree in business administration. She is the senior director of client services at Pepperjam, Wilkes-Barre, Pa.
The groom is a 2002 graduate of Bishop O’Reilly High School and earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in communications from King’s College in 2006. He is a business manager at Motorworld, Wilkes-Barre, Pa.
The couple honeymooned in St. Lucia and Antigua. They reside in Forty Fort, Pa.
