As a junior, Buckner showed signs of being a special player. As a senior, he was one. Buckner led the Cougars during the WVC season by averaging 15.5 points and shot 68 percent from the foul line. He led the team in all games with 173 rebounds and 84 steals. He shot 49 percent from the field.
