SWOYERSVILLE -- Borough Council discussed problems with a flood protection project on Brook Street at Monday night's meeting.
Council member JoeOnzik said work was needed on the shoulder of the roadway to allow for adequate drainage.
Borough Secretary Gene Breznay said the project was still under a maintenance bond and Borton-Lawson, the engineering firm charged with overseeing the project, would be sent out to assess the situation.
Breznay reminded council the project would be inspected annually by the state Department of Environmental Protection and the Army Corps of Engineers, and that a poor rating would result in the loss of Federal Emergency Management Agency and other federal funding.
In another matter, council approved two resolutions transferring collection of earned income, mercantile and local services taxes to Berkheimer Associates, replacing the Centax/Don Wilkinson Agency. Breznay was named as liaison to facilitate communications between Berkheimer and the borough.
