Authorities investigating police shooting of man

TUNKHANNOCK - The Wyoming County District Attorneyâ??s office is investigating the death of Tunkhannock man shot by police who were attempting to serve him with an involuntary mental health commitment order.
Brian P. Williams, 42, of Lake Winola, was fatally wounded Wednesday after troopers from the state police barracks in Tunkhannock and officers from Overfield Township and several other departments responded to his home, District Attorney Jeff Mitchell said in a press release.
Mitchell said Williams was shot by one of the officers, whom he did not identify. Williams was pronounced dead at the scene by the Wyoming County Coronerâ??s office.
Mitchell said the circumstances surrounding the shooting are being investigated by his office and State Police. He said there will be no further comment until the investigation in completed.
