Coughlin, Crestwood and Wyoming Seminary are all slated to begin action in the PIAA field hockey tournaments beginning this weekend.

Crestwood and Wyoming Seminary will each be playing in the PIAA Class 2A quarterfinal round. Crestwood will take on Selinsgrove at the Berwick Salem Complex at 11 a.m. Seminary, meanwhile, will face Villa Maria at 1 p.m. in Emmaus.

Coughlin's field hockey team will be playing in the Class 3A quarterfinals. The Crusaders will square off with Hempfield at a site and time still to be determined.

PSU Wilkes-Barre 68, LCCC 56

Tiara Brathwaite's 20 points and 21 rebounds led Penn State Wilkes-Barre.

Tiffany Denny chipped in 10pts and 20 rebounds for the Lions.

Top honor for Cougars' Bush

Misericordia standout Andy Bush has been named the Freedom Conference Player of the Year and is joined on the All-Freedom Team by five teammates.

Bush was the top scorer in the Freedom Conference with 13 goals and three assists and had a league-best five game-winning goals.

Nick von Egypt, a forward, joined T.J. Schaefer, a midfielder, and Rob Wiacek, a defender, on the first team.

Goalkeeper Billy Sopko and defender Dennis Halpin both were awarded honorable mention status along with Wilkes' Joe Brennan, a midfielder.

Wilkes pair all-conference

Wilkes Lauren Pawling, a midfielder, and defender Kaitly Bevans were named to the All-Freedom Conference second team.

Pawling, a senior, totaled three goals and four assists on the season. Bevans recorded four goals and four assists, playing for a defense that allowed just over two goals a game.

Misericordia, Wilkes honored

Misericordia's Cailin McCullion joined Wilkes' Casey Bohan on the All-Freedom Conference first team.

McCullion led Misericordia with 318 kills and 331 digs. She is the school's all-time leader in kills (1,055) and is the first player in school history to reach 1,000 for her career.

Bohan's 389 kills lead both Wilkes and the conference.

The Lady Colonels' Erin Nothstein, along with the Cougars' Kat LaBrie and Nicole Korgeski and King's Alexa Nelson all earned All-Freedom Conference honorable mention selections.
